My Winchester model 74

Posted: Sat Aug 17, 2013 12:40 pmThis past week I was at a local pawn shop where I have bought several guns over the past year. They had this Model 74 that had been restored. I looked at it briefly and went home and did very little research on the rifle. I bought it anyway because I just liked it. According to the serial number it was made in 1948. Any comments or information anyone may have will be greatly appreciated. I don't know if I made a mistake or not. Thanks for looking

Posted: Fri Aug 14, 2020 4:18 pmI have one made in 1942. It was probably my Dad's first gun. It was made in 1939-1955.
They have a unique history to WW2. Sir Winston Churchill got several thousand on the lend-lease program. The Brits would hide and let the Nazi's run forward. They would come out of hiding and shoot them from the rear with a .22. Search Churchill and Winchester 74.
