Welp after all this time the status now says "rifle being evaluated - manager gun"...
whatever that means?

Seems we burn a lot of life chits waiting for something. Long lines, airport, support to pickup, etc. I believe the lack of quality control and slack job pride is into the waiting mix. Press 1 for English.

i talked to a guy today. he said its through QC, and waitng gunsmiths que. Would not tell me what the eval was, or say when I would know. He also said because of anti-gun groups they do not tell you the status. I asked, so I wont know until the gun shows up here? He said pretty much.

Bummer on the more waiting. Don't know what the anti-gun groups have to do with explaining to the customer about his gun. The anti-gun groups are known to be stupid.

Holy crap!!!!!!!!! finaly got to talk to "the guy". you know, the guy that actually helps. He called me back after promising to talk to QA to find out about status. He left me a voicemail with a bombshell!! Said they've had a run of 1873's coming back. Winchester is waiting on the redesign of a part, didn't say what, and that I had two options.
Wait for the design of whatever part it is. I'll need to call them, as I'm curious.
Or
Provide a copy of my receipt and they will refund my money.

Bummed!!! It was a nice rifle, and loved the caliber. Oh well. I'll be getting money back and moving on..

Well, okay....a negative resolution is better than no resolution. Getting a refund is much better than not.

Just FYI for you folks...its going to be a recall. the part redesign will be across the '73 platform. that's all they'd say. wouldn't tell me what.

From what you were experiencing. A recall is an easy out. Much less expense than a stack of death/injury law suits.
