Rifle showed up at the transfering dealer with the box still sealed from Winchester.

I didn't notice this scratch until a day later.

Can't just buy a replacement part from W..they told me to send it in at my cost and expect a 2 month turnaround time if they choose to fix it.

How much would this bother some of you?

Howdy glock12,

Welcome to the dead zone. So sad. However, I could live with this blemish.

glocke, Welcome. Wait a few weeks and if you still notice the scratch then may be do something about it. Sorry to see it on a new out of the box rifle but given the age of the original 1873 it doesn't bother me as much as it would if were a late model rifle the scratch may just add to the patina. If you got it to shoot, then shoot and enjoy it.

Yeah, Im leaning towards not returning it. You have to be looking at just the right angle to see it anyway.

Add in the fact that Im responsible for shipping one way and they may not even have the part it seems more trouble than its worth.

BTW, this place is a deadzone. First post in over a year was mine lol..rest of the forum looks just as inactive sadly.

So, 6-7 months later I finally got this back from Winchester. I'll post a photo later, but they did a great job on this. Cannot even tell there was a scratch there, and I am wondering if they just replaced that endocap.

It took forever, but I was busy enough with work that it didn't bother me.
