I am looking to purchase a Winchester 1873 Sporter and have a question about which ammo should be used in this model.

The Winchester site says that this rifle is available in 357-38. How should I interpret this caliber? Is this a 357 magnum? I am totally ignorant about this designated round. Please educate me.
Regards,
arlen

Yes...it is basically telling you the rifle shoots both .357 Magnum and .38 Special...the handgun rounds.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was beginning to suspect that it was designating both of those calibers.

You will be able to shoot 357 rounds and 38 rounds from the rifle. Its designed to accommodate both rounds. The 38's will be much cheaper to shoot though..
