Well have been having trouble finding partridge(ruffed grouse) at all.Been out a number of times this year and never even scared one.Been taking different 28 gauge guns with the hope of changing my luck, with no luck.

Saturday afternoon I took the Winchester Model 42 .410 for something different and with the hopes of changing my luck.Well it worked, was able to finally see and bag a partridge.Woohoo!First partridge I have been able to bag ,since 2017.Now I will be able to have the taste of partridge meat at last.LOL

Hello Bob.Have been hearing about the fires out your way on the news.Sorry to hear of your power loss.Hope it stays on for you.

How close is the fire to you?

Yes ,the partridge was good.Had the last one ,last night for supper.:)

Sorry about the invite mix up.I had said you were welcome for dinner or supper. It was an open ended invite.:)I believe what you call dinner there ,is what we call supper here.:)The evening meal.

Prayers for all you folks in harms way.

I'm a former fire fighter/medical first responder. I can only imagine what is going on with the responders and residents.

28 ga., & RR the fires are about 50 miles north of my house. As far as dinner vs. supper, well it depends on rural or suburban out here rural=supper, suburban = dinner, I'm both.
Redryder I was also a firefighter, a company officer, and a Heavy Equipment Operator (dozer operator) and EMT. Thanks for thoughts.

50 miles. That is getting a little too close for comfort,as fast as the fire has been moving at times.Hope it stays well away from you and that the fire is out or at least brought under control shortly.

28 Ga. & Redryder I appreciate your interest/concerns very much and just to let you know, I keep an eye on things also I have a 2,000 gallon water truck with hose and nozzle and an 800 GPM pump and a 200 GPM pump which I can and have used to fight fires. The 50 miles is not so far but the wind isn't blowing toward my area, also they are starting to get control of it.

28 gauge is a hanger-in-there hunter. Keeps going back without remorse.

Thanks for the nice words,RR and Bob.Will be busy with work for the rest of the weak. Most likely will not get out again until Saturday.Maybe if I am real lucky, a short hunt before dark on Friday.

Yes, it is nice to get out,but I was really hoping for another partridge or two for the pot.O well, thats why they call it hunting and not getting.

How are the fires out your way Bob?

Yes, I guess I am repeating myself and enjoying my time afield.:)Just posting to keep up to date with my hunts.

Looks like it is going to be a poor season. They are now starting to move in with packs of dogs and cleaning out like a vacuum cleaner ,any place that has even a pair of rabbits in it.:(

Been out a few times, but still no luck.Had the 28 gauge Model 12 out yesterday and the 28 gauge Franchi 48 AL out today to try and change my luck.Did not work.Upland game ,partridge ( ruffed grouse) and rabbits (snowshoe hare), seem to be very scarce this season.
