These pheasant hunt photos are from a hunt in South Dakota, around Miller, SD in 2009. Proof that vintage shotguns and hunters (yours truly) can still drop ringnecks. The guns are a Model 12 , 16 gauge, 28" modified choke, circa 1939; and a Model 97, 12 gauge, 30" full choke, circa 1926.

All I have used for pheasants and quail are my model 12s 16 &20 Ga since '63 and a heavy duck gun for ducks . Used the 16 & 20 for ducks 'till the steel shot law.
Too old to be nice, never too old to learn!

I have a 1942 97 just because they are memory guns from my growing up years. My Uncle owned a 97 that I admired and loved to handle. Wish I could have inherited his.
