Looks to be in great shape. M61s are money in the bank these days. Great find!

Thanks for the reply P. Meurrle
Its seems hard to place a true value on them, so many others are for sale at at huge prices, but they don't always sell. I'd rate this one in 95%+ condition, it has excellent deep original blue and wood finish only marks on it are a small scratch in the blue on the top of the receiver. The slide rail and mag tube aren't even scratched, it easy to see it had very little use. I'd like be able to get a real value placed on it, or at least a "realistic value range" for insurance purposes. I don't really want to say what I paid for it, however the previous owner didn't appreciate its considerable collectable interest, neither did the owner of a .308 model 88 carbine I just picked up for a song a couple of days ago....

For sure one of Winchester's finest .22's ever!

The newest Blue Book has a misprint for the 61, right at 95% condition, ($145). I think it should read, $945.00, as 98% is listed at $1200.00 and 90% at $875.00.

I'd have to agree krag96.... $145 is a bit on the low side ! I figured it was in the $1000-$1200 range because of its condition. The 2009 gun values book I currently have also lists very similar values to the new blue book, I think I will set the insured value around $1200. Thanks for the reply
