How do I identify what model I have? I've got two rifles and I want to id them and 'value' them for insurance agent.

Rifle #1 is a lever action 32 W.C.F., top eject, octagonal 24" barrel with buckhorn sights and pop-up peep sight , metal butt plate. serial number is 517346 there is no model number just the standard "manufactured by Winchester repeating arms company" logo with a patent date of October 14, 1884

Rifle #2 is a model 94 in .32 Win Spl and a serial # of 2503815

Trying to get a rider added to the insurance policy to cover these two guns I inherited from my Grandpa.

Any historical info on them would be really nice to know too.

Thanks guys, and God Bless America!
Bob

Posting a picture of the guns would be a big help.

Looks like a Model 92. No markings on upper tang?

I'm sorry, just got back off a 72 hour hydrogen emergency. No marks near or under the rear sight, except possibly under the pop-up peep sight. haven't had the courage to start removing screws just yet. There are two sets of stampings, one on top of the barrel just forward of the receiver and one on top of receiver just behind the barrel. Both appear to be very similar, a P and an I in a oblonged circle , and a W in a circle on the barrel, on top of receiver is a stamp that looks sort of like they did both stamps in same place.

You are going to have to take that sight off, pop up peep, to check for Model designation. It should be on the upper tang and that sight is probably covering it.

or......on the probable '92, open the lever and show a pic of the lever-block from the non loading port side.
.32 WCF........is the bore/chamber ruined?
