Model 88 from the good old days

I also inherited this beautiful model 88 with a 4 digit serial number. I could say that I actually got it back. I bought it for my Dad as a retirement present. He hunted with it one year then went back to his model 100.

Same scope and set up as his model 70. Ironsighter mounts and a Weaver 2-7x with post/crosshair reticle. The gun was virtually unfired when I acquired it- never had a scope on it. Its still in fantastic condition- and its another great shooter.

Wow, that thing is gorgeous!
Super early model......has the clover leaf recoil lug.
Couldn't tell but, is that a 308 or maybe a 358 (that would be highly collectible)?

Love it! Old post but have to opine! First year in 308 only! My favorite year for the Model 88 and my favorite caliber. Very nice! I sure love mine!
