Whether I am shooting skeet, trap or throwing some lead down range; I tend to find myself at the range just about every weekend. Up until now I had been wearing the basic shooting glasses that you can find at any local store. They always fogged up on me and never quite fitted me right but what made me decide to get some better glasses was; one day at the skeet range a shooter at station one broke the clay and it ended up hitting him in the face. He was fortunate enough to be wearing a good pair of glasses which prevented him from getting any serious injuries. I thought to myself, did I really want to wear safety glasses on a daily basis that would risk my eyesight just to save a couple of bucks? Well the answer to that was pretty simple for me…No.

I began researching the wide variety of shooting glasses, to try and figure out what was best for me. I needed something that would provide the best protection but at the same time allow me to use the glasses in a variety of shooting scenarios. After reading through many different reviews on all different styles of shooting glasses, I decided to go with Revision Sawfly Max Michael series. The Sawfly kit from Revision is just the right mix for everything I was looking for in eye protection. The kit included:
· Clear, smoke, Mocha and Vermillion lenses
· Microfiber cleaning pouch, a retention head strap
· Soft Storage case

The features that come standard with the Revision Sawfly series are listed below along with some remarks:

1. High impact protection lenses that exceeds ANSI Z87.1-2010 and military ballistic impact requirements for spectacles. As the video below illustrates at 16 feet with #6 shot 12gauge 1300fps, 37 strikes and no penetration. There are very few companies that would even think to put their glasses to this test, let alone pass it. They did not make the U.S. Army authorized protective eye-wear list by mistake…

2. Precision manufactured interchangeable lenses ensure distortion-free vision, full side-impact protection and anti-fog performance while providing protection from UV-A, UV-B and UV-C rays. Hot/cold/rain/snow, Sawfly series provides HD quality clarity. Simply pull down on the center and the lenses pop right out, making it an easy transition to another lens. This feature had come in handy shooting sporting clays, when throughout the day condition can change very easily on you. Revision Sawfly’s definitely took the pain out of changing them.

3. Frames are provided in three sizes (small, regular and large) Revision allows you to pick the frame that best fits you. Regular being the most standard size, you also have the ability to choice from black, foliage green and tan frame colors. For the shooters that require Rx, Revision also provides the ability to do so.

4. The specially engineered nose pad and frame grips allow for maximum comfort and durability. My Ability to wear the Sawflys for hours with out any irritation or discomfort was a huge relief and plus for me.

5. There thin frame structure allows for zero obstruction from hearing protection, headsets or in my case hats. The curved optics allows for optimal visibility with the zero view obstruction and extremely beneficial when shooting skeet and require to have a full field view.

6. Secure-snap retention band clips firmly into frame, keeping eye wear in place just adding to the list of extra benefits that Sawfly has to offer.

I have been wearing these glasses every time I am at the range now and continue to be impressed by them. I have yet to have any fogging up, fading, or any other issue that normally comes along with safety glasses. I constantly have people asking me what type of glasses they are and are shocked on the performance of the glasses when trying them. The one small setback of the Sawfly series is the limited variety of lens colors compared to other shooting glasses. The 4 lens colors provided in the kit cover 90% of the weather condition that I am faced on a daily basis but would be nice to have the ability to have more options.

Overall I highly recommend the Sawfly series from Revision. If you want something that is comfortable, exceeds the protection standards and honestly looks a heck of a lot better than most glasses, and then you have to go with Revision Sawflys. The base kit starts at only $89.99, which is extremely reasonable considering some companies want you to spend $90 just for a lens replacement. I will continue to use these glasses and update you as I continue to put them to the test.

First Impression: The case that the Revision Military Max Michael Signature Series Sawfly comes in is personally signed by Max Michael. He actually takes the time out to endorse his products which gives you an added sense of security knowing that these aren't just a way for him to put money in his pocket. Once you open the case you notice a very organized case that has dividers for the various lenses, lens wipes and glasses. The kit comes with a mocha, vermillion, black and clear lenses which will cover all most conditions when it comes to shooting. I did order a yellow lens for those days when its a bit foggy but I could have easily used the vermillion for those days. The lenses radiate a sense of quality and after looking at them in person I can easily believe the videos of them stopping bird shot and lower caliber bullets. The frames are very light weight yet sturdy and I would be confident that these could take a beating in the field, I see why many of our soldiers wear them.

Use: AWESOME is the only way to describe these shooting glasses. Not only do they provide the protection but they also provide amazing clarity to speed up target acquisition in virtually any condition. When every second counts I have full confidence in the Revision Military Max Michael Signature Series Sawfly shooting glasses giving me the edge. I now use these for a wide variety of events including shooting clays (trap, skeet, sporting clays), plinking, laying lead down range and even hunting. If you are looking for a pair of shooting glasses then look no further!
