Loading and dry firing question

Is it safe to dry fire the SXP or should snap caps be used?

Sometimes I shoot a '97 clone while participating in Cowboy Action Shooting and always load shells over the top directly in to the ejection port. Is it OK to load shells directly in to the ejection port of the SXP?

Thanks, the new Defender should arrive at my dealer from Davidson's in the next few days, looking forward to trying it out.

I located the manual at http://media.winchesterguns.com/pdf/om/ ... sxp-om.pdf

Page 17 verifies that loading the chamber through the ejection port is ok. Couldn't find anything on dry firing, but I have some snap caps coming from Amazon.

Loading through the ejection port is fine. I do all the time. Now as for dry firing it is good that the pin strikes something. I found a really good vid on youtube which shows how to make some dummie shells using spent casings and does not require any reloading equipment. I am currently in the process of making some myself. The only thing he doesn't do is put something in place of the primer. Silicone will work fine. It will provide a soft enough strike area for the firing pin to hit and not damage it. Leaving in spent primers can damage the firing pin.
