Has anyone ever put a sling on the new Winchester 86? I have a new 45-70 and just finished getting it zeroed in with the Williams aperture sight and I've been giving some thought to what it's going to take to carry it mile after mile. A sling also helps to steady your aim too, correct? Obviously you can tell from my questions this is all a first for me. I've found sling hardware online but I'm also concerned that the hardware is priced so....cheap??. Lots of questions and I appreciate everyone's input

Boomer, congratulations on your new family member.
Slings will add control to your shots. However, you need to know how to apply the correct sling configuration for each shooting stance. Off-hand, prone, kneeling, sitting. If using a rest, a sling might be a disadvantage. I can be corrected on this. I'm using military shooting stances. GOA Life Member

I find a sling is a must on a field gun...

Shooter said it in a short sentence. I used a long paragraph to be subjective.
