The serial number dates it to 1918. I noticed while oiling it down that on the top part of the butt strap it is stamped 192 N.Y.S.T
I believe it is New York State Trooper. Yet I can't seem to find any info anywhere, yet.
If that is the case I think it's really cool. Perhaps it makes it more collectable. I am absolutely thrilled to have acquired this fine piece of history.
Just acquired a 94 with N.Y.S.T. stamped on the butt strap

So it looks like the gun was an early issue to the New York State Troopers known not long after as New York State Police. Pretty cool.
"The New York State Police was officially established on April 11, 1917 by the New York State Legislature. The division's first superintendent was George Fletcher Chandler, who was responsible for much of the division's early organization and development. Chandler coined the term "New York State Troopers" " |
Very nice.. Is it in decent condition?

Thanks, I'd say so. The bluing is very nice on the receiver, barrel and mag tube. The action is pretty tight. The stock and fore grip shows some wear. There's no wear on the bluing near the saddle ring. |
