Here's one of my Pop's '94s in .30 WCF...
It was gifted to him by a ranch hand decades ago. There were several notches in the stock when it was given, but no questions were asked.

The Indians of North America frequently decorated their firearms with the tacks as shown above...so that's authentic to the bone !!
...and repeaters such as that one helped Crazy Horse defeat General Armstrong Custer at the Little Big Horn. ( Custer's men only had breach loaded Sharps rifles...and on average the mounted calvaryman carried only 15 to 24 rounds. )

Not my personal taste either Gunner, but for its intended purpose I think it's a great reproduction.

I remember when they were putting these guns together. They actually consulted with indians from that tribe to make sure they got the tacking right. I don't know too much about indian history but there is significance in the tack design for that particular tribe.

Shooter 13: Some helpful information; Custer's men did not have Sharps carbines-they had Model 1873 Springfield (trapdoor) .45-55 carbines. Each soldier carried 100 rds of cartridges, most of them had about 40 on their person and 60 rds in the saddle pockets. There were another 200 rds per man in the pack train. Since the battle occured on June 25, 1876, it was too early for the Indians to have Model 94 rifles. They did have, however, Henrys, Model l866 Winchesters and, surprisingly, at least 2 Model l873 Winchesters, besides some 40 other types of firearms.

Both made in 1898, a standard saddle carbine and a special order sporting rifle. Both .30 WCF. I also have a 1940 vintage carbine, .30 WCF not pictured, my grandson hunts with that one.
