I am having trouble removing the takedown screw on my 1973 9422.
I want to make sure note to wreck screw. What do you suggest?
What should I use to remove screw. It looks like a penny or nickel fits perfect. I bent the penny.

Thanks for your help!

Welcome to the Winchester Owners Forum Jordonc2 !!

Never use a coin to remove a screw...you will bugger the head and never get it out...

If you own a firearm...invest in a good set of screwdrivers meant for gunsmithing.

It appears that this screw was made to be unscrewed with a coin for takedown in the field. The slot is too large for a screwdriver.

Missed the takedown part of that...sorry !

Did you spray some WD-40 on it to penetrate and loosen said screw...(try to keep the WD off the wood )
