Could any provide any information regarding the Winchester M-70 Classic Featherweight (Post 64) New Haven? Basically, I would like to know the barrel forming as to whether it may be 'cut rifled' or 'button rifled'? Needless to say, the barrel is not cold hammer forged due to the barrel being stainless. Last year I called Winchester and spoke with someone in the technical department regarding some aspects of the rifle. The person said that many Winchesters at that time (1994) were manufactured with Hastings barrels. Would any be adept of this facet? I asked the person if there is any way in identifying the barrel, and he said, "No there is not". All replies are welcome.
