I brought one home last night.
Being a fan of sporting rifles in this fine old chambering when I saw the first article about these back in January, I knew it was going to cost me. This is my first FN manufactured Winchester and my initial impression is so far very positive.
The stock , especially in the pistol grip area seems a bit beefier than the old USRAC ones from the 80's.
At first glance the metal to wood fit seems to be very good. The wood's nothing special, but I've seen worse examples on more costly rifles.
The trigger ain't bad. It breaks very clean without that hanging feel the of the average post 64 Model 70's. It's a consistent 4lbs from the box, but it actually feels better than it measures.
I have several rifles that cost more than this one, but this is the most I've spent for any modern Model 70, I hope it shoots as well as it looks.
I'll try to post a pic or two later. CD

Congratulations. I hope it meets your accuracy standards and you enjoy using it. I really like the appearance of the Model 70 Featherweights.

I got a few pics of it. I'll get some with a better camera when the scope mounts arrive.

Well, I see you have your shooting bench and stool close by. Seriously, fine looking rifle.

Thank you. That old table and chair goes with me most everywhere. I have a couple places to shoot on private land that have a boyb policy . Cdog - NRA Benefactor Life Member -

The 7x57's a keeper.
I finally got a chance to shoot it today, what a pleasure. I loaded a few 140 grain Nosler ballistic tips atop a medium dose of W760/H414 and shot a couple quarter size 3 shot groups. If that's as good as it gets, I'm satisfied. FN gets an A rating for their rendition of this classic beauty. Cdog - NRA Benefactor Life Member -

That's good news. I agree with your kudos to FN. Seems like a good run of rifles coming out.
