What, in the name of all things holy, didnWinchester coat their trigger guards with in the early 80's? I'm putting cerakote on my featherweight today. Everything prepped up nicely in the blast cabinet, except the trigger guard. After a half hour of blasting, I still can't get it down to bare metal. In comparison, the cocking piece took about thirty seconds.

Welcome to the site. I don't know what happened. First comment I've read about the guard material. That's about the time Winchester began dumming-down their hardware to save a few cents.

Did ya ever figure out what is on it? What year is it? I do know coating on Model 190s on trigger Housing if you soak it for a long time in Hopper #9 it will removed what appears to be a plastic type coating.

Never did figure out what it was. Eventually I was able to blast if off, but it was 10x tougher than the other pieces.
