BillyBob, is your FN Model 70 a Featherweight, Sporter, or what? I assume it is a pretty recent built rifle. My experience owning from 1942 Rifles to present is that they have been one of the world’s most consistant well built rifles. I have handled hundreds and never saw one that I didn’t like. I do like some a lot better than others, but for accuracy, workmanship, etc., all good! I owned two that were not pre-1964 so push feed models. Sold one, a Model 70 Lightweight in 30-06. Whoever bought that from a big dealer got a great rifle. I had traded it in to get a Super Grade I needed But was short in funds for, never should have sold that one either!

I think they are the best hunting rifle on the entire market. I will say though I just received my 2018 Winchester Catalog in the mail and I was disappointed that no Model 70s with the stainless steel barrel in actions like on the new FWT as an option are pictured. They are current offering, but why they were not pictured when that was the single most popular customer request I cannot even guess. However the standard Featherweight with blued barrel and action are lovely and are tougher than many realize. That particular Model rifle of all those in the entire world are being used by the most successful hunters that I personally know. The 7 mm08 and then the 6.5 Creedmore would be my top choice. I looked at the new XPR, a long ways from the Model 70 in my very strong opinion. I also note that as yet I do not own one with the SS option. I know they look cool, and are very tough and shoot extremely well.
