Me too on my 70 super grade with Leupold vx3-3x9x50 !! nice setup

My post 64 .222 came with the older style weaver bases, I mounted a Leupold 3-9x50mm Rifleman on it using "high" Weaver grand slam rings, the bottom of the scope tube has about 4-5mm clearance above the barrel.
