I'm a long time admirer of the Pre 64 Model 70. Yesterday I bought one at auction and will soon get it. It is a 308 FW from 61. It is all original and in excellent condition. I have 2 questions;

Would pillar bedding this rifle detract from it's value?

Does the forearm sling swivel attach to the barrel?

I intend to scope this rifle and make it a tack driver.

Welcome. The swivel don't attach to the barrel. As far as the pillar bedding, I don't know. I'm not a collector in the sense of investments but more into living, which means if I buy a gun, I'm going to use it and shoot it plenty so pillar bedding would not detract from any value I put on it.
