Hi, my name is Nicholas Bodine, I'm 21 and i live in CT, my main interests generally include vintage cars and weapons, i love new ones too, but they don't have the character of a classic. as far as weapons go, excluding the ones that belong to other family members, I currently have a 1964 smith & wesson .357 highway patrolman, a winchester model 1912 12 gauge, and a winchester model 54 .270 that i just aquired. I had a few questions about the model 54 and was hoping someone could help. The rifle belonged to my grandfather, its in okay shape, has some obvious wear on the wood, but its in great shape mechanically and has been well maintained. When i got the rifle it had a scope on it, were these original to the rifles, or an aftermarket accessory, it seems to be about as old as the rifle. my second question is the age, the serial number is 1206, which seems low to me, though i don't know that much about serial numbers, but does anyone know when the rifle was made, as I understand they were produced between 1925 and 1936. considering all that, the fact that only 50 thousand of them were made, that its a .270 and that it has what i think is a relatively low serial number, does anyone have any idea what the rifle is worth? I don't want to sell it, but it would be nice to know! Thank you in advance!
