I own perhaps a dozen Winchesters, all bolt action from a Model 72 .22 from 1944, Model 94-22 which was one of the first 94-22s made (came from the custom shop and beautiful wood and no checkering), to a batch of Model 70s. In the late 60s and early 70s I lived in Moscow Idaho where I was a Fish and wildlife grad student. I met Jack O'Connor during that era and then got drafted by the US Army during the Vietnam War.

I have a Jack O'Connor .270, a Cabela's .257 Roberts, a Supergrade .243, an Ultimate Shadow .243, a 1985 .243 24" barrel set up for varmits, and a 30-06 lightweight, etc.

If you want to set up one of these with select wood, etc. the cost is usually very high. recently I teamed up with Boyd to get some stocks set up that were very nice and set up specifically for the user. We have also custom fitted some with very high end figured wood, etc. Roger Beisen (Alvin Beisen's son, Alvin did the Jack O'Connor stocks or Alvin Linden). To bad Winchester can't be encouraged to use a specific stock super select blank on their rifles as a extra option. Dakota rifles in Sturgis S.D. WILL do this on their rifles but the cost is very high.
