Hi, I am an old guy who has been enjoying the shooting sports for many decades. I am not a hunter, just a target shooter. Currently I have a passion for rifle shooting at medium distances. In Southern CA there are only a very few public outdoor ranges. The best is Angeles Range with steel targets up to 600 yards, however, it is 95 miles, one way, from my Dana Point home. Hopefully this fall and winter I can shoot up to 300 yards at the High Desert Gun range in Morongo Valley. It is much closer to my home in La Quinta. I don't have any real expensive long range rifles just a Ruger No. 1 caliber 243 Winchester and a Winchester Extreme Weather SS in 7mm-08. Recoil matters so that is reason for the smaller caliber rifles.   Although CA has very restrictive gun laws we citizens are still allow to have some makes and models of rifles and handguns. The California welcome sign should read as follows: "Come for the taxes, stay for the gun laws".

Welcome aboard Paco! Yes California is a land unto itself, but glad you are able to still shoot. By the way lots of us so-called older fellas around these parts!

44 I don't think I could live there either! Been there twice back in the 80's and have no desire to go back. Shame it is a beautiful place.
