Hi all,

I've been an active CAS shooter here in France for some years now but also a member of the local Target Shooting Club. I got the Winchester bug after trying firstly a Rossi Rifle and then a carbine. Both a lot of fun but even after a tune-up, somewhat rough. I particularly like the carbine for CAS though, light and fast to cycle. At last, I have got my hands on a REAL WINCHESTER, an 1892 44-40 carbine manufactured in 1896, what a beauty, battle scarred it may be but so sweet in operation. Virtually in perfect mechanical condition, save a broken rear band screw (the subject of another post).

My real hunger though, is for a genuine 1873, it's just so robust! One day maybe. Not the the Uberti replica is inadequate, far from it, it's alovely piece of kit in 44-40.

My home country is the UK. We are so lucky here in France to have realistic weapons control measures which work pretty well for the average law-abiding enthusiast. It is also quite realistic to collect pre- 1900 antique firearms without restrictive legislation. None of this is possible in the UK of course.

All the best for 2017,
Barry

Welcome to the forum Barry! So sad what has become of the UK! Surprised to hear France is decent in gun control measures.

Post some pics of your 1892 in the appropriate sub forum when ya can...we love pics of old Winchesters
