Always wanted a lever gun, just picked up an 1894 (made in 1895) chambered for 38-55. I grew up in New Haven, so pretty cool to see my hometown stamped on the barrel. I'm an avid IDPA shooter and an LTC instructor, but this is my first foray into antiques.

Hoping I can shoot the HSM ammo I already have for it, but have been warned about smokeless in such an old rifle. Barrel has proof mark, receiver does not. Perhaps the barrel has been replaced?

Keeping an eye out for a carbine in 357, either model 92 or 94. Hope to learn quickly so I can contribute!
