Hello, folks. I am a new 65 y/o member from northeast Indiana. My Winchester is a Model 70 Featherweight in .308 Win. This is my third Featherweight. The first was built in the 1990s and was chambered in .270 Win.; it went away in a regrettable trade for something I've long since forgotten. The second was made around 1961, also chambered in .270, and was not very accurate (I suspect it had a worn barrel). All of my model 70s were/are CRF rifles.
I've had this .308 for only a month or so. It is a fine rifle. I scoped it with a Leupold VX-III 3.5-10X40mm, that I have owned for several years, in a Leupold 2-piece base with Leupold rings. Performance of the rig has been great, which quite frankly is what I expected. One hundred yard BR groups are tight with a variety of ammo, and some are outstanding. If all goes as planned, I will be taking the outfit west for mule deer hunting this fall.
