Hi Everyone-
Glad to join up. I own two Winchester 1873s: a 357 and a 45, and they're just great (I'll save the gushing platitudes for another post). I want to shoot 44 mag, and in an anticipatory spasm, bought some Underwood ammo. My history with 44 mag lever guns isn't stellar- I had two previous models from other companies, and I was very disappointed in both. The main reason I tried those two is that I just couldn't find the Winchester I wanted ('94, 20+ inch barrel); they just seem difficult to locate, especially at decent prices. I had initially planned on getting an 1873 in 44, but abandoned the notion when I learned that it would be a bad idea to try and shoot +P ammo through it. I've been looking into an 1892, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer as to whether it can safely shoot the high-powered ammo, particularly Underwood 340 gr 44 mag. Would any of you know whether the '92 would be ok with that? Thanks for any input, time, etc.!
