I have a 1958 model 70 in .270 caliber. The original factory stock has been modified; the forend was cut off at an angle (looks like a Weatherby) and replaced with fancier wood and the pistol grip has had some added decoration. The varnish is old and a little yellow so I assume the modifications were made many years ago. I haven't pulled the stock off to see if it is marked inside but would like to identify who did the modifications. Anyone know of any companies or individuals of note who did this kind of work in the late 50"s or early 60's? Gun came to me out of Texas but don't know any other history on it. Thanks!
