model 62question

i have a model 62. it has serial number 192890. long forearm, 17 grooves. the barrel is stamped 62, i thought it was and should be marked 62A. i know that the barrel was never changed. any ideas?

What does the barrel proof mark look like is it an oval P or Oval pw or both combined

it has pw in an oval on the barrel and on the reciever

When you turn the gun over and look behind the trigger guard do you see one screw hole or 4 screw holes

on the tang there is one screw hole on the end of the tang, and serial number in the middle of the tang.

You have a third type model 62 barrel which is a 62-2

it is stamped 62- . i thought it would have 62a stamp because of the manufacture date. i was t aware of a model 62-2

Made in New Haven .Conn -winchester - model 62-

It's due to the result of the factory using the older model 62 barrels until they were gone 62a was used later

i thought that might be the answer. i have a model 21 that defies all research to. a four digit gun that is a post war gun. thank you for the help
