New Owner, need help with antique

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum. Looking for some expertise here.

Scored a sweet Model 12, serial number 1,032,xxx. Came with a Remington 1913 bayonet and scabbard, canvas sling with the OD green plastic stays and a push-release for the slingmounts.

I got it for a great price. :D

SN puts it at 1947, if I don't miss my guess, but it's got wartime finish on it, parkerized not blued. Comes with heat shield and bayonet assy. US Stamp and Ordnance bomb under ejector, proof mark on hood and barrel, US Ordnance bomb on hood and barrel. Finish is in fantastic shape with no scratches and a small marring on the frame.

I'm not sure if the stock is correct, though. It's been nicely sanded and stained but fits the gun too well to have been sanded and refinished. Nice clean lines and edges and it fits into the reciever perfectly. But, no buttplate, and no US or inspector stamps on it. The buttplate has pencil on it that says what I think is 'black *****', I can't make out the second word. Any thoughts? And any ideas where I can get a correct stock and/or buttplate for it?

Try this guy on gunbroker..

He sells repro parts. Original parts are rare and expensive. A LOT of fake guns out there.

Thanks friend! I really don't mind paying a premium for OEM replacements, I love a factory-correct firearm.

Sorry for resurrecting this semi-old thread, but wow! That's a cool Model 12! I was looking for one of these at the gun show yesterday, but was told they're somewhat rare, with the riot M12s being much more common. Very nice! I settled on what appears to be a field gun, which I love but really enjoy looking at the photos you shared with us. How does it shoot?
