Evening. Newbie here. How do I determine if my Mod. 70 XTR in 06 has 1 or 2 piece trigger guard assy? When I pop the floor plate open there is a screw that gets exposed. The rifle is a 1978. Thanks , Stash

iskra However, now here... Welcome to the Forum and to answer your question Sir, no Model 70 rifles utilized factory one piece bottom metal until introduced in the nineties. My take |

Thanks Iskra. Looking at a plastic stock from an online vendor and that was one of the questions. They supply an adapter to make it one piece. Happy New Years all............ Stash

On my older model the front trigger guard screw holds in the rear of the magazine box. The screw under the receiver ring (where hinged floor plate is attached) holds the front of the magazine box. The newer models have a one piece guard assembly and only use two screws. Not sure when the design changed, my old model dates to 1940, newer one is the latest model.
