What is a model 94 'Ranger'?

I am checking out a gun tomorrow at a local used gun shop, and I called to have it set aside until I could get there. Their website says it is a pre-64 30-30 model 94 in good condition, but the guy on the phone told me it is a ranger. Can anyone tell me what this means? I can't seem to find a definitive answer anywhere online. Thanks!

The Ranger is a carbine with a hardwood stock without the saddle ring.

Is the ranger line something that was created post-64 or are there pre-64 rangers as well?

In the 20'' carbine they had both! after 1936 it was a special order for a saddle ring. Ol Deuce late post!
