My name is Harold. I live in the state of Illinois. Grew up in state of Wisconsin. My interests run the spectrum from frontier era to modern. A '76 Winchester catches my eye as fast as a milled Kalashnikov. I am a purist at heart and do not like radically altered firearms especially when it comes to the classics. Angle eject and push button safeties on '94s were a deal breaker for me, Don't have one, never will. I have been accumulating Winchesters for the last 40 years here and there. I wouldn't call it collecting as there is not a theme nor any ryme or reason for their purchase other than being impulse buys. I am glad to find a place where I can share and receive knowledge about a great topic, Winchesters.

Welcome to the forum. I share your disdain for the changes to the 1894.

Howdy Harold! Thanks for coming along the Winchester trail.
I made a negative comment earlier on the forum concerning my dislike for the new safeties. Nothing was wrong with the hammer safety. Don't care for ramp sights either, as I don't hunt. No need to be concerned with bumping the sights. However, I have some with hooded ramps. They go back at least to 1951. My 1951 JC Higgins 28 has a ramp without the hood. GOA Life Member
