I just picked up a pre 64 1894 yesterday in 32 w.s. I was wondering if anyone hand loads and/or cast for this caliber. I`m wanting to get info on components and data.

Kind of an old thread, but I will chime in here anyways.....
I've been reloading for the .32 WS for a number of years. Bullet choices are few, but the FTX from Hornady is my favorite, and worth a try. I started with 748 and flat point 170 gr. and then switched to 165 gr. FTX bullets & Leverevolution powder when it became available. You can get 2300 FPS with FTX bullets and LVR powder compared to 2100 FPS using flat points and 748. The ftx bullets are definately an improvement in performance over the regular flat points. I don't load any cast bullets, but you might find they work well with the .32's twist rate. Its a slower rate than say a .30-30, this makes it more friendly for using cast bullets if you decide to go that route. |

I am new to this posting. Joined to see if anyone was reloading the 32 W. S. using Hornady FTX. I got the answer I was looking for. Thanks to skinner-t. I also was wondering if anyone had tried powders other than Leverevolution???

I also loaded FP and FTX bullets with 36.2 grains (max load) of win 748. It works well at duplicating a factory load with both bullet types, but you will get an extra 100 fps with the leverevolution powder using hornady loading data.
