I recently purchased a Weatherby Vanguard Series 2 in 30-06 and my nephew bought one in .308 Win. Both rifles would not shoot worth a crap!. No matter what was fed them they were inconsistent and certainly not even close to MOA let alone the guaranteed sub-moa. After several frustrating range sessions I traded mine for a Model 70 Sporter in .270 Win and my nephew traded his in for a Model 70 Ultimate Shadow in .308 Win. Today was the first range session. What a difference!! Both rifles shot slightly sub-moa with factory ammo. Can't wait to see what handloads will do! I shot Federal Fusion 130 grain SP and my nephew shot Fusion 165 grain SP. I should never have departed from the Model 70! Now I have an Ultimate Shadow on layaway in .243 Win. and at tax time can feel a Safari Express in .375 H&H coming my way.
