Hello,

I saw a new Boyd's laminated stock for a Model 70 at a gun show in November. A friend had a .30-06 pre-64 gun with a replacement barrel and a sort of prone style replacement stock. After settling on a price for the Winchester I bought the stock.

My main shooting interests are muzzle loaders and schuetzen. When it comes to Winchesters I've owned a couple of High Walls, an '86 a '94, a '97, a M-24, and a M-21.

This is the first Winchester M-70 I've ever owned and the first bolt gun I've dolled up since the 1970s.

I never realized how smooth the M-70 is. Quite a gun, and I'm looking forward to getting it to shoot.

Not many things these days have that kind of quality. Hard to imagine back in those days it was a utility, now its art. Glad you got one..makes me wanna go shoot mine again.

I have never owned or shot a 70. However, my Son in-law swears by his for taking Louisiana whitetail.

Good to have you here smoke.
