Hi,
Shooter13 suggested I come on here to introduce myself.
My name is Ken, I will be 62 next month, and from my handle it is evident that I am a wood craftsman. We live in Georgetown, KY just north of Lexington. We're UK Wildcat fans but don't get real worked up like many around here do. I took up an interest in woodworking while in high school where I built a reproduction Queen Ann piecrust table out of mahogany. A short stint making reproductions and other furniture until I realized having no money was no fun. I got a job installing professional sound systems and alarm systems then started my own alarm company. This past October, after 34 years in the alarm business my wife and I sold the company to a friendly competitor in our town.
Technically, I am now retired. My wife wants to work a few more years. She is 5 years younger than me and wants to earn an income until she can retire.
I also have an interest in multi-sport (triathlons) and have competed in several races. I do distance running and am an avid road bicyclist. My wife rides, too. It is nothing to go out on a Saturday morning and ride 65 miles in around 3 1/2 hours. Very good way to burn calories.
Neither of us owned any guns until the current -choke- president -choke- started talking gun control, etc. Now we both have our conceal carry permits and own several hand guns and rifles. My first purchase was a Remington 870 12ga. That was going to be my greeting for the gun collectors, LOL. We both shoot 308 hunting rifles with scopes. My short hunting career has bagged one doe so far. I also have a beautiful, older 22-250 and a locally made AR-15.
The Winchester 94 is my first lever action purchase. I look forward to gaining experience shooting without a scope and letting the lefties in the family shoot it too. Being a smaller gun makes it nice for the younger ones, also. Anyway, I plan to display this rifle in our family room because of its handsome appearance and historical value. Thank you all for answering any questions I post here. This looks like a really good group!
